(KPL) The Education for Development Fund (EDF)-Lao has granted a donation package worth 2.6 billion kip to poor students in four southern provinces of Khammouane
(KPL) The Education for Development Fund (EDF)-Lao has granted a donation package worth 2.6 billion kip to poor students in four southern provinces of Khammouane, Savannakhet, Saravane and Sekong. The hand-over of the package took place at the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.
Director General of the Primary and Pre-school Education Department, Ministry of Education, Mr. Chaleun Souvong, received the package from the EDF-Lao Managing Director, Mr. Khamhiene Inthava.
The package includes clothes, educational items and sport gears to promote education of the poor students in primary and secondary schools.
Its assistance has benefited students in 20 districts in the southern provinces, including nine districts in Khammouane, five districts in Savannakhet, four districts in Saravane and two districts in Sekong since 1997. So far in this academic year more than 7,000 poor students have been provided assistance from the EDF-Lao.
These include 6,287 poor students in primary schools and 810 in secondary schools.
