Gong Gong, a giant panda from the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden, won the "Most Popular Giant Panda in China" title at 2019 Giant Panda Global Awards in Pairi Daiza, Belgium on Friday.
Winners were announced in 15 categories, including "Panda Cub of the Year," "Most Popular Giant Panda in China" and "Most Popular Giant Panda Overseas."
"Gong Gong," 6, is one of the first two pandas settling on the tropical island in 2018.
Bao Di and Bao Mei, the two giant pandas born last year at Belgium's Pairi Daiza Zoo, won the "Panda Cub of the Year" Gold Award.
The awards were organized by the Giant Panda Global website, a platform to promote conservation efforts for giant pandas.
About 328,445 online votes were registered in 15 categories that included gold, silver and bronze awards each.
