A New Year celebrations meeting of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and four border provinces of Vietnam was held in Liuzhou from Jan 6 to 7 to enhance friendship and deepen pragmatic cooperation.
The year 2020 is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the fifth anniversary of the New Year meeting between China's Guangxi and the Party secretaries of the four border provinces (Lang Son province, Cao Bang province, Ha Giang province, and Quang Ninh province) of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). All parties reviewed and thoroughly evaluated the fruitful results achieved in the past five years.

After an in-depth exchange of views, the various parties reached consensus on friendly exchanges and cooperation in 2020.
Guangxi and Vietnam will continue to maintain frequent exchange visits and close contact, strengthen policy communication, enhance political mutual trust, as well as carry out in-depth, pragmatic, and effective cooperation in various fields.
The two countries will focus on promoting cooperation in fields like connectivity, investment and trade, cross-border tourism, as well as customs facilitation. They will also strengthen the upgrading and cooperation of ports, as well as carry out exchanges and cooperation in cross-border logistics, cross-border trade, cross-border finance, cross-border industries, and cross-border labor services.
Friendly exchanges between party committees and organizations at all levels, as well as related training and cooperation projects will be carried out. People-to-people exchanges between youths, women, and people living in frontier areas will also be conducted.
In addition, Guangxi and Vietnam will strengthen joint law enforcement and information communication, make full use of the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, strengthen judicial cooperation, as well as combat cross-border crimes to maintain peace, stability, and normal order in border areas.
