At 4pm on Feb 3, the first batch of four patients diagnosed with novel coronavirus in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, were cured and discharged from Nanxishan Hospital.

The four discharged patients included two children and two adults. The most senior patient discharged is 33 years old, and the youngest is only nine.

Since the outbreak in Guilin began, Nanxishan Hospital has been identified as one of two hospitals in the city designated for medical treatment of novel coronavirus-infected pneumonia patients, and it admitted the first confirmed case in Guilin on Jan 24.

After treatment of their symptoms and two reviews, the four patients were released from quarantine after consultation with the expert group of the region and Guilin city.

"The rehabilitation and discharge of these four patients gave us great confidence in fighting the epidemic, and also accumulated valuable experience in medical treatment work, especially in treating children", said Du Zhenzong, the dean of Nanxishan Hospital.

Du also showed great confidence that the epidemic can be defeated and determination that it will be.
