Guangxi achieves staged success in epidemic control

According to a press conference held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Feb 24, the region has achieved staged success in its fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic through effective and timely treatment.

To date, 150 experts in disease control have been dispatched to 14 cities and more than 50 counties for epidemic investigation and processing, supervision, epidemiological investigation, as well as laboratory testing. A total of 45 batches of experts in clinical treatment have paid 142 visits to designated hospitals in each city for consultation and on-site guidance. About 15 expert consultation meetings and 26 video consultations have been held, while 6,670 consultation calls have been received by the 12320 Public Health Hotline.

Relevant government departments have issued a set of documents to allocate medical insurance funds to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment of confirmed and suspected patients. As of now, the medical security departments at all levels in Guangxi have allocated a total of 256.45 million yuan ($36.57 million) to the designated medical institutions of the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

The region has also taken advantage of the resources of traditional Chinese medicine and Zhuang medicine to improve the prevention and treatment level, achieving positive results. As of Feb 23, 251 cases were confirmed in the region, of which 240 cases were treated by Chinese medicine, with a participation rate of 95.6 percent. A total of 107 patients were discharged, of which 104 discharged patients were treated with integrated Chinese and Western medicine.

In addition, Yongwu Hospital, a hospital specializing in novel coronavirus treatment, was built and put into use on Feb 16 in the region, offering 48 negative-pressure wards with 94 beds.
