The first Guangxi medical team sent to support Hubei province in its fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic was released from quarantine and returned home on Apr 1.
Members of the medical team mainly came from 14 medical institutions in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and one municipal-level hospital. After completing their 14-day quarantine inspection in designated hotels, medical workers from Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Yulin, and Baise were finally able to return to their hometowns.

The medical team was organized to support Wuhan, Hubei province on Jan 27 and returned to Guangxi on March 18 after working hard for nearly two months. According to the arrangement of the National Health Commission, the team members undertook the medical treatment of patients with critical cases of COVID-19 at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Huangpi district, Wuhan.
During their 52 day stay in Wuhan, the medical team managed 188 beds and treated 397 patients, of which 157 were cured and discharged.
All cities in the region have shown great respect to the medical staff for their contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a major Chinese automobile manufacturer in Liuzhou, has sent cars to pick up the 17 local doctors and nurses, forming a convoy along with a motorcycle fleet of Liuzhou’s traffic police team to welcome the return of the frontline heroes. The company will also provide a three month free trial on cars and half-price discounts on car purchases for the 17 medical workers.
