The 44th session of the World Heritage Committee, initially scheduled for June 29 to July 9, has been postponed as the coronavirus pandemic continues. UNESCO, the organization behind the committee, said consultations are underway to determine the exact dates of the session.
The World Heritage Committee meets once a year for an ordinary session to discuss the management of existing World Heritage Sites, and accept nominations by countries. Meetings are held within the territory of state members of the World Heritage Committee at their invitation.
This year, the meeting was scheduled to be held in Fuzhou of eastern China's Fujian Province.
