Over 320,000 people have been affected by downpours in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since June 4, local authorities said Sunday.
As of 5 p.m. Saturday, over 14,000 hectares of cropland in the region have been damaged, and one person died of lightning strikes, said the regional emergency response department.
The region's meteorological bureau raised its emergency response for weather hazards to the second level from the third level on Sunday morning. Also, 36 river level monitoring stations in Guangxi have reported warning water levels due to days of heavy rainfalls.
The downpours have also caused mudslides which led to house collapses and destructed roads in Tianlin County, Baise City.
Tourist sites in areas such as Hezhou City have been temporarily closed.
Local authorities have called on more preparation for the upcoming new round of heavy rains.
