Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region held a symposium in Nanning with representatives from local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on Aug 21.

Hosted by Lu Xinshe, Party secretary of Guangxi and chairman of Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the symposium aimed to help companies deal with their problems and to listen to their suggestions.

The people in charge of companies like Fangsheng Axle (Liuzhou) Co Ltd, Guangxi Mesda Engineering Machinery Equipment Co Ltd, Guangxi Jinyuan Biochemical Group Co Ltd, and Guangxi New Future Information Industry Co Ltd outlined their current business conditions during the symposium.

An additional 11 entrepreneurs spoke at the symposium, putting forward opinions and suggestions spanning research and development innovation, talent introduction, industrial development, policy and financial support, business environment optimization, as well as comprehensive service quality.

Lu noted that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has posed unprecedented pressure to various kinds of market entities, especially SMEs.

"Relevant government departments should launch targeted initiatives according to the suggestions made by entrepreneurs to help companies overcome difficulties and accelerate development," said Lu.

Lu also stressed that companies should be active in implementing distinctive development strategies to cultivate distinctive products and services, upgrading the companies' competitiveness. Companies should also devote more efforts to enhancing innovation and investing in technological R&D and human capital, striving to become dynamic innovation entities.
