The press conference of the first National Student (Youth) Games was held in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Dec 27, noting that relevant preparations are progressing smoothly.

The construction of stadiums and gymnasiums is taking place. The region plans to build, renovate, and maintain 42 stadiums and gymnasiums for the sports competitions. The project officially started construction in July 2020 with 64 percent of the project has been completed.

At present, the collection and selection of the official song and mascot for the event have entered the approval stage. In addition, the first National Student (Youth) Games is promoting the launch of a cheerleading contest, sports open classes, and other colorful theme series of publicity activities.

The first National Student (Youth) Games will set up 65 projects for open groups and 10 projects for students. Guangxi plans to host 41 summer projects, of which Nanning will undertake about 50 percent of them.

At present, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has carried out the selection of 1,500 athletes in addition to nine sports teams made up of 167 athletes.
