As Spring Festival draws near, traditional Chinese clothes like Qipao and Tang suits in fashionable styles and colorful patterns are gaining popularity among people in Shengfang Ancient Town, Bazhou City, Hebei Province.
"My friends and I have customized orange vests for the new year," said Liu Yang, a customer in a Qipao shop in the commercial street of Shengfang Ancient Town. Wearing classical Chinese clothes has become a unique way to celebrate the Chinese New Year, while combining fashion trends with tradition serves people's pursuit for fashion, she added.
Children paying new year visits in auspicious traditional Chinese clothes is also a fashion in Shengfang.
"This improved Qipao is very suitable for Spring Festival and also convenient for my daughter to play," according to a mom.
"There has been a constant flow of customers shopping for the Spring Festival since the New Year's holiday during Jan. 1 to 3, 2022, and many are repeat customers," said Zhang Kun, who runs a store selling traditional Chinese clothes. According to Zhang, the clothes she sells use soft fabrics and festive colors and are embroidered with Chinese classical patterns like tigers, gourds and auspicious clouds, both fashionable and practical.
With a long history, Shengfang Qipao shows the elegance of local women, and is a beautiful card of the ancient town.
"Qipao is more than a dress. What's behind this kind of clothes is Chinese culture and wisdom, as well as the dignity and beauty of Chinese women. It not only shows off women's figures, but also their elegance and temper," said Yu Wanchen, who bought a Qipao and also customized a red Tang suit for her mother to welcome the Spring Festival.
