The Huayudong Bridge, the first bridge in the shape of a "hand basket" in southwest China's Guizhou Province, was awarded the Gustav Lindenthal Medal, the world's most prestigious bridge construction award, by the International Bridge Conference (IBC) on April 4.
Located above Hongfeng Lake, the 270m-long Huayudong Bridge obtained 11 national patented technologies and pioneered a new reconstruction method.
According to public data, nine bridges in China have won the Gustav Lindenthal Medal, among which four are located in Guizhou.
