China, Malaysia look forward to economic, trade cooperation in post-pandemic era

A seminar on China-Malaysia Cooperation Under the Shadow of the Epidemic and Sino-US Competition was held both online and on-site on June 10, gathering more than 150 scholars and experts from the two countries.

The event, held by the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences and Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Malaysia, included discussions on three pressing issues, including economic and trade cooperation future between two countries in the post-pandemic era.

Zhong Darong of Huaqiao University said that cooperation in fighting COVID-19 between the two countries has laid a solid foundation for health security cooperation in the post-pandemic era.

Ewe Hong Tat, president of Tunku Abdul Rahman University, noted that Malaysia and China have carried out positive exchange and cooperation in sectors spanning policy, economy, culture and education despite challenges including the pandemic, and the university is willing to continue to support mutual academic cooperation and promote research and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Xie Guihai, deputy head of the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, expressed his hope that experts and scholars from the two countries can step up communication to provide more wisdom for the development of China-Malaysian relations.
