The three-day 2022 Malaysia-China Enterprise Matchmaking Conference commenced online on Sept 13, with on-site sub-venues being set up in cities including Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia.

More than 300 one-on-one matchmaking talks were held between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises spanning a variety of sectors including food, medicine, machinery, as well as building materials.

Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, chief executive officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, noted that Malaysia is expected to deepen cooperation with China in trade, investment, and digital economy. He added that further cooperation between the two countries in economy and trade will be promoted under the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

He noted that Malaysian entrepreneurs have been taking an active role in applying for the upcoming 19th China-ASEAN Expo despite the COVID-19 pandemic and that Malaysia is the Guest of Honor of this year's CAEXPO. Malaysian entrepreneurs are looking forward to finding more cooperation partners and business opportunities in the areas of food, big health cultural tourism, and digital economy, said Aziz.

Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing said that the Sino-Malaysian relationship has achieved rapid development in recent years and that fruitful results have been achieved in the areas of industrial parks, infrastructure, as well as equipment manufacturing.

Lim Ban Hong, deputy minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Malaysia), spoke highly of the future of Sino-Malaysian cooperation and expressed hope that the implementation of the RCEP will accelerate the integrated development of the regional economy and bring more opportunities to Malaysian enterprises.
