The Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has consolidated national unity, social stability and frontier tranquility in the past few years, local media reported.

The area houses 12 indigenous ethnic groups such as the Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao and Dong along with 44 other ethnic nationalities.

They have widely communicated with each other, united in their beliefs, ideals and culture.

Longfeng village in Luocheng Mulam autonomous county is home to seven ethnic groups, including the Zhuang, Han, Mulam, Miao and Yao. It is a village with a 70 percent minority population. More than 300 villagers there speak 11 dialects and yet live harmoniously together.

Chenshuang village in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county houses migrants from seven ethnic groups. They moved there to improve their lives and developed agricultural industries such as rice planting and fruits and silkworm breeding. Fenglingbei community in Nanning, capital city of Guangxi, is a demonstration unit of national unity and progress. People from 20 ethnic groups live there, and they help and get along with each other.

The National Ethnic Affairs Commission issued a decision document on the ninth batch of national unity and progress demonstration areas and units on Jan 25.

A local meeting in Guangxi approved a decision document on May 13. It determined cultural events participated in by different ethnic groups should be well organized. Nationally, an all-purpose spoken and written language should be promoted, it said. Different regions in Guangxi have launched activities for publicizing the Chinese nation as a community and developed festival brands such as the Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival.

Cementing the sense that the Chinese nation is a community is a necessary requirement for the great rejuvenation of the nation. Guangxi is promoting the concept of a community for a shared future and improving itself to aid in developing socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era.
