Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County of Liuzhou City in Guangxi is the most populous of the five autonomous counties of the Dong ethnic group in China. As the hometown of drum towers and wind-and-rain bridges  in the world, it is also famous for its mortise- and tenon-structured wooden buildings that have witnessed the changing times of this millennium-old land, becoming the representative among the traditional buildings of the Dong ethnic group. Today, new wooden buildings have risen from the same land, carrying new hopes of the Dong people for a better and wealthier future. The renovation of old wooden buildings proves well the fruitful action of poverty alleviation in Sanjiang.
