Baise in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has achieved rapid development in the past two decades since it became a municipal city in 2002.
The regional GDP of Baise has increased by 8.5 times from 16.51 billion yuan ($2.28 billion) in 2002 to 156.87 billion yuan in 2021, while the city's added value of industries above designated size has expanded by 23 times.

At present, Baise ranks first in China in terms of mango plantation area and third countrywide in terms of tea-oil tree plantation area.
Modern industries in Baise, such as cultural tourism, rehabilitation, commerce and trade, logistics, as well as digital economy, have gone through rapid development in the past 20 years, with the city's added value of its service industry increasing by 11 times.
The urbanization rate of Baise's population has increased from 21.58 percent in 2002 to 44.56 percent in 2021. The total mileage of expressways in Baise now stands at 840 kilometers and the city has nearly completed its target of all its counties having access to expressways.
