The curtain lifted on the five-day 2022 China-ASEAN Music Festival on Nov 27 in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, bringing eight concerts, four academic forums and four lectures to a music-loving public.

The China-ASEAN Music Festival, held by Guangxi Arts University, was initiated in 2012 with the aim of creating an exchange platform for musicians and increasing the influence of Chinese music globally.

This year's events will take place both online and on-site, according to Cai Changzhuo, Party secretary of the Guangxi Arts Festival. Art troupes such as the symphony orchestra of Guangxi Arts University and the Chinese zither band of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music will attract audiences with excellent performances of music with strong ethnic flavors.

After a decade of growth, the China-ASEAN Music Festival has now become a music and cultural feast with certain scale and influence in China as well as one of the four major platforms for contemporary musical creation and performance countrywide, side-by-side with the Beijing Modern Music Festival, the Shanghai New Music Festival and the Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival.
