A batch of 9,000 kilograms of orah mandarins produced by Guangxi State Farms left Nanning on Dec 1 en route to Singapore, marking another example of successful exports through the differentiated selection of high-quality products.
ASEAN countries have long been known for their high yield of fruit and many of their lotus mists, tender coconut and durians have been exported to China and are popular among Chinese customers.
The import volume of fresh durians from Thailand achieved a 54.99 percent year-on-year increase to reach 960 million yuan ($138 million) in the first 10 months of 2022.
Yet the climate of Guangxi is more suitable for growing high-quality tangerines, with the tangerines grown in many ASEAN countries not comparable to those produced in Guangxi.
The Tangerine Orchard of Guangxi Agricultural Reclamation Jinguang Farm is the largest standard demonstrative base independently run by Guangxi State Farms. It has a total area of 2,500 mu (16,667 acres). The orchard has also taken the lead in Guangxi in terms of its high degree of mechanization, intelligent operations, and strong economic benefits.
Statistics released by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs show that Guangxi had the highest fruit yield in China in 2021, while the implementation of the RCEP has brought new opportunities for Guangxi's fruit industry.
