Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will turn its border area into a first-class world tourism destination in three years, officials in Chongzuo announced on Dec 21.
Sharing a boundary border with Vietnam, Guangxi in recent years has made great efforts to develop cultural tourism in its border areas and has cultivated several high-quality cultural tourism products such as the Detian Transnational Waterfall.
The region has launched a three-year action plan for building a distinctive border tourism belt, noting that the tourism belt alongside the China-Vietnam border will have stronger comprehensive strengths, provide better service capacity and be more popular with tourists.
The tourism belt, stretching 725 kilometers, connects eight counties, districts and cities from southeast to northwest, such as Dongxing, Ningming county, Pingxiang, and Longzhou county.
Officials also stated that distinctive cultural elements such as ethnic culture, rock painting culture and local history will be given full play in developing tourism on the basis of protecting cultural heritages and the nearby ecological environment.
