BYD, an automotive company, began construction on its intelligent new energy vehicle comprehensive test site project in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Jan 4.
The project will build a globally leading comprehensive test base for new energy vehicles, providing international first-class standards in automotive testing, research and development, and regulation verification services.
The project site is located in Long'an county in Nanning with an area of over 6,000 mu (400 hectares), and is expected to be officially put into operation in June 2024.
The project plans to build 18 types of test roads and various testing laboratories for vehicles and components, such as an intelligent network link test road, an F2 level handling test road, a high-speed ring road, an endurance road and a cross-country path.
BYD is currently the only vehicle company in the world that has mastered battery, motor, electric control, charging infrastructure and complete vehicle technologies at the same time. In 2022, Nanning introduced five projects in the BYD series with a total investment of 28 billion yuan and yielded a total output value of 50 billion yuan.
Nanning has accelerated the development and growth of its new energy vehicle industry with a mindset to build a new energy vehicle and parts manufacturing base to cater to ASEAN countries, as it is the closest capital city in China to them.
