On Jan 6, train X9574, which was the first rail-sea freight train to carry Spring Festival goods in 2023 through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, left Qinzhou.
The train arrived in Chongqing on Jan 8, laden with ASEAN specific Spring Festival goods such as instant noodles, dried bananas, oils and coconut water. The goods were then transported by lorry to local supermarkets for citizens.
The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage jointly built by ASEAN countries and provincial-level regions in western China.
Thanks to the benefits of the RCEP policy, the transaction cycle of international orders for enterprises has been shortened, costs are reduced, supply chain services are more stable, and they can better meet the needs of domestic and foreign customers.
In 2022, a total of 756,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers were delivered by rail-sea freight trains through the trade corridor, an increase of 18.5 percent over 2021 and 223 times that of 2017.
At present, the trade corridor has reached 113 stations in 60 cities and 17 provinces, an increase of 21 stations, 13 cities and four provinces when compared with 2021 statistics.
