Airfare prices from China to Southeast Asia have decreased about 30 percent after the Spring Festival, according to data released Tuesday by Chinese online travel platform Qunar.

The data shows that during Spring Festival this year, China's outbound ticket reservations increased by 6.7 times year on year. The most popular destinations were Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the United States, and Indonesia.

Air routes from China to Southeast Asia increased while the number of passengers decreased after the holiday, so ticket prices in February have fallen by 30 percent.

Ticket prices of some routes have dropped even more dramatically, including Hong Kong to Bangkok and Singapore, registering only 1,200 yuan (about $177.76) and 800 yuan.

Overseas hotels have also cut prices as Chinese tourists return home. On the Qunar travel platform, the average price of hotels in Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Macau and Hong Kong has decreased by about 10 percent.

From Feb. 6, Chinese travel agencies will be able to open outbound group travel for Chinese citizens to 20 countries. On the Qunar platform, as of Monday, the visa business search volume has nearly tripled over December last year. The most popular destinations are mainly in Thailand.

Guo Lechun, deputy director of the Qunar Big Data Research Institute, said that with the recovery of Chinese flight capacity, the number of flights from China to Southeast Asia will continue to grow in February. At the same time, as the number of passengers has fallen compared to Spring Festival, the price of tickets to Southeast Asia will be more attractive.
