The Mengkang Port on China-Laos border resumed passenger clearance service on Monday.
Located in south Yunnan’s Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County, the Mengkang Port is an important land passage for Yunnan to Laos and an essential gateway for China to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The resumption of passenger clearance service at Mengkang Port can not only strengthen the communication between import and export enterprises, but also promote the integration of minerals, agriculture and other resources between China and Laos.
It also plays a positive role in prospering the border trade between the two countries and helping increase income of border people.
From January to February 15 this year, a total of 3,965 vehicles entered and exited Mengkang Port, with 64,800 tons of inbound and outbound goods valuing at of 52,254,300 yuan (about 7.611 million U.S. dollars) transported.
