Domestic tourists in China to reach 4.55 billion in 2023

It is estimated that the number of domestic tourists this year will hit about 4.55 billion, up 80 percent year on year and 76 percent of the 2019 level, according to China Tourism Academy.
The academy predicted that the domestic tourism revenue will reach four trillion yuan (about 580.44 billion U.S. dollars) this year, a year-on-year increase of 95 percent, recovering to 71 percent of that of 2019.
The number of inbound and outbound tourists in the whole year is expected to exceed 90 million, doubling year-on-year and returning to 31.5 percent before the pandemic.
In addition, this summer is expected to usher in a comprehensive recovery and summer travel is to approach or even reach the same level before the pandemic.
