In recent years, the Dapeng township in Pingnan has combined environmental and humanity resources to build up high quality rural tourism, which led to the establishment of the Beidi Mountain tourist area.

Beidi Mountain lies at the southern foot of Dayao Mountains. With forest coverage rate reaching 80 percent, the mountain boasts a high quality of air and water with negative oxygen ions reaching 20,000 cubic centimeters.

In 2018, the Beidi Mountain scenic area was listed as a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and it has recently become a preferred destination for visitors from Guangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

The scenic area has seen the number of visitors soar in the past few years. The recorded tourist entries skyrocketed from over 100,000 in 2018 to 800,000. Newly-built freeways and highways linking Dapeng township with several cities in south China have fueled the increase of visitors.

As of Feb. 26, 2023, Beidi Mountain served more than 5,000 visitors and over 40 travel groups, who mainly came from Guangdong and other regions of Guangxi. Since the beginning of the year, the scenic area has received between 5,000 to 7,000 visitors on weekends, and 500 to 1,000 on weekdays. The scenic area has recorded over 100,000 visits, which generated nearly 20 million yuan ($2.91 million).
