The Chinese military followed and monitored a United States warship that sailed through the Taiwan Strait, a spokesman said on Monday.
The guided-missile destroyer USS Milius passed through the Taiwan Strait on Sunday and publicly flaunted its actions. The Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army organized troops to follow and monitor the whole process of the warship, said Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesman for the command.
The troops of the command were on high alert at all times to resolutely defend national sovereignty and security, and regional peace and stability, Shi said in a statement.
