An economic and trade delegation led by Guangxi officials visited Cambodia from April 20 to 22, carrying out deep discussions around subjects including business environment, cooperation opportunities and global trade.

Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region signed 11 major cooperation projects with Cambodia on April 22 during a two-way investment conference held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

These projects have a total investment of 7.84 billion yuan ($1.14 billion), covering areas of industrial investment and commodity trade.

Guangxi is the only region in China that is connected with other ASEAN members both by land and by sea. It is one of the closest domestic areas to Cambodia.

The total import and export volume between Guangxi and Cambodia in 2022 was 1.97 billion yuan, expanding by 88.3 percent. The export volume of Guangxi to Cambodia last year increased by 88.5 percent to 1.86 billion yuan.

Guangxi officials noted that the bilateral trade volume between Guangxi and Cambodia has seen rapid growth since the two sides signed the memorandum of understanding on enhancing cooperation under the RCEP in 2022, showing huge cooperation potential, as well as a promising future in the areas of economy, trade, and agriculture.

Cambodian officials noted that Cambodia is looking forward to expand cooperation with China and will encourage Cambodian enterprises to participate in major events like the China International Import Expo to boost the growth of Cambodia-China trade volume.
