China-Vietnam border port sees Southeast Asian fruits trade boom

Trucks loaded with imported fruit including durian, passionfruit, dragon fruit, jackfruit from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have been passing through customs. This is a daily scene at Youyi Port in Pingxiang City, south China"s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which borders Vietnam.

Pingxiang is the largest and most convenient land route from China to Vietnam and Southeast Asia, as well as the largest port for fruit import and export trade between China and ASEAN.

Imported fruit passing through Pingxiang's Youyi Port alone reached 643,400 tons in the first quarter of 2023, up 246% year-on-year. Youyi Port Customs has supervised the import of 61,000 tons of durian, with a year-on-year increase of 633.6 percent, accounting for 96 percent of Guangxi and 66.3 percent of China. Durian and other Southeast Asian fruits are being transported from Guangxi to markets across China.
