A total of 4,119 cars made in southwest China’s Chongqing with a value of 490 million yuan (about $69.78 million) have been exported to Central Asian countries in the first four months this year, 17.8 times and 39.6 times that of the same period last year respectively, data from ChongQing Customs showed.
China-made cars are popular among Central Asian countries in recent years. On May 18, a freight train loaded with 256 cars left Chongqing for Kazakhstan via the Horgos Port in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
“The orders in the first four months have exceeded the sum of that of last year,” said Hu Meifeng, deputy general manager of the logistics center of an automobile enterprise in Chongqing.
In order to facilitate customs clearance, the city has established a green passage for exported cars.
