The international passenger flight from Changchun, northeast China’s Jilin Province, to Nha Trang, a coastal city in Vietnam, reopened on Sunday, with the first batch of over 200 Chinese tourists beginning their 8-day trip.

The flight is operated by VietJet Air, a Vietnamese low-cost airline based in Hanoi, with a round trip between the two destinations each Sunday.

Nha Trang in KhanhHoa Province is a popular tourist spot in Vietnam. The flight route will facilitate Jilin tourists to travel to Southeast Asia and is of great significance to promote the development of Jilin tourism economy.

Li Qiu, a group tour guide in Jilin, said Southeast Asia is a popular destination among tourists from northeastern China and people are keen to travel abroad since the resumption of outbound travel.

The outbound tour groups received by the travel agency that Li works for are mainly composed of elderly people and retirees, said Li. With the summer vacation underway, groups of students and their parents will increase sharply so it is a good time to resume direct flights to Vietnam.

YangShuo, a representative of VietJet Air in Changchun, said that China is an important tourist source for Nha Trang. The company has resumed several direct flights from Chinese cities to Vietnam this year, such as Chengdu in Sichuan Province, Changsha in Hunan Province, Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province and Shenyang in Liaoning Province, Yang said. As the tourist season comes, the company will open more new routes in due course, Yang added.

According to the Changchun Station of Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection, with the recovery of international flights, the station has opened sufficient inspection channels, making sure passengers can pass within 30 minutes.
