Guangxi's digital economy has maintained a growth rate of more than 10 percent over the last five years, ranking first in China, officials announced during a June 26 press conference.

As of 2022, the scale of Guangxi's digital economy exceeded 930 billion yuan ($129 million), and the number of its digital enterprises reached 15,000.

Guangxi's cumulative investment in new digital infrastructure exceeded 100 billion yuan from 2020 to 2022. It is also continuously enhancing its capabilities in cloud and networks.

By the end of April 2023, there will be 85 data centers in use or under construction in Guangxi, with a carrying capacity of about 300,000 standard racks. Additionally, more than 190,000 4G base stations and 83,000 5G base stations have already been built.

Guangxi ranked second in West China in terms of 5G users and has taken the lead in China regarding connecting all of its administrative villages with gigabit optical networks. The total length of optical cable lines in Guangxi exceeds 3.2 million kilometers, ranking sixth in China.

Guangxi has made great efforts to improve its local business environment. At present, all administrative licensing matters in the region can be handled in one visit to the service counter, and more than 92 percent of the affairs can be handled online.

The region has held five sessions of the China-ASEAN Information Harbor Forum, three sessions of the China-ASEAN AI Summit, and the China-ASEAN Digital Innovation Competition. It has also built a number of China-ASEAN cooperation platforms in areas of cross-border tourism, logistics, and medical care.

Officials of the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region noted that the bureau will take digital transformation as the main starting point for high-quality development in various fields. This includes government governance, public services, economic development and opening up measures. Guangxi is also set to further develop itself in the new digital era.
