The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) launched its first multimodal freight train connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

The international freight train route has adopted the "railway-road" multimodal transport mode. The goods transported by the freight train, including office furniture, air conditioners, and small home appliances, will arrive in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region via railway. They will then be transferred to road transport and leave China through the Irkeshtam port, passing through Kyrgyzstan, and ultimately reaching Uzbekistan.

Compared with traditional transportation, the new route will save about five days, making economic and trade exchanges between the GBA and central Asian countries more convenient and cost-saving.

Guangdong GW Holdings Group Co Ltd, which operates the freight train, has launched over 1,000 China-Europe freight trains, covering more than 30 countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative and serving tens of thousands of foreign trade enterprises.
