On August 8, the "One-year Anniversary of Pinglu Canal Construction" interview event kicked off in Nanning.

The Pinglu Canal serves as a significant infrastructure project to connect rivers, seas, and mountains. Measuring a total length of 134.2 kilometers, it extends from Hengzhou's Xijin Reservoir in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the mouth of the Pingtang River. The canal continues its journey until it merges with the Qinjiang River in Luwu Town, Lingshan County, Qinzhou, making its final strides toward the Beibu Gulf. Upon its operation, the Pinglu Canal promises to serve as a course between the mid-upper sections of the Xijiang River and the Beibu Gulf, reducing the maritime distance to the sea by nearly 560 kilometers. This canal is designed to alleviate the transportation load on both the Yangtze and Zhujiang Rivers. Moreover, it aims to harvest a range of comprehensive benefits across economic, social, and ecological domains, while also promoting greater regional openness.
