Hechi has seized the opportunities of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor construction and accelerated the development of its transport infrastructure.

Hechi is regarded as a crucial hub in the middle route of the trade corridor. Key transportation ventures include high-speed railways, expressways and the Hongshui River water transportation project.

Of those, the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is a particularly important component of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the land Silk Road. It is Guangxi's first passenger-dedicated rail line  designed to run at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The Hechi section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is 162 km long with a total investment of 23.37 billion yuan ($3.22 billion). The basic infrastructure construction has been completed and it is scheduled to open at the end of September.

Work on the Tian'e-Beihai Expressway (Hechi section), with a total length of 237 km and costing 54.35 billion yuan and the Hechi-Libo Expressway, with a total length of 69 km and costing 11.4 billion yuan, is also in full swing.

On completion, these road projects will further facilitate the travel of people, improve the transportation hub system in the southwest region, promote rural vitalization, as well as bolster economic and social development in the surrounding areas.

Besides railway and road network construction, Hechi is also focusing on promoting the construction of inland water transport.

The Hongshui River is an upper tributary of the Xijiang River. It runs through the entire jurisdiction of Hechi with a total length of 416.2 km, and is an essential passage of the southwest waterway to the sea.

The city started construction of the Longtan Ship Lift this year, promoting the connection between Hechi and the Pinglu Canal by water.
