The maritime bureau of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region activated a Level-IV emergency response for Typhoon Saola, the ninth typhoon this year, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Typhoon Saola will likely move in a northwesterly direction at a speed of 10-15 kilometers per hour and approach the coastal area of south China's Guangdong Province in the next two days. It will move westward after making landfall and affect the cities and counties along the coast and in southeastern Guangxi.

The typhoon was observed over the ocean about 200 km south of Eluanbi in China's Taiwan at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters Wednesday also activated a Level-IV emergency response for floods in six provincial-level regions, including Guangxi, as two typhoons are expected to impact these regions in the coming days.
