On September 9, the Embassy of the People"s Republic of China in the Republic of the Philippines , the Quanzhou International Culture Association , and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Association of the Philippines jointly held the "Quanzhou: Legendary Port of the Maritime Silk Road" Event by the Chinese Cultural Corridor @ the Philippines in Manila, capital of the Philippines.
Focusing on Quanzhou, the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, this event launched three theme exhibitions to trace the traditional friendship between China and the Philippines from different perspectives. Using light and shadow art, the exhibitions have offered more visitors an opportunity to learn about the Chinese civilization in the Song and Yuan dynasties and the development course of the ancient city. Among others, historically precious genealogy and Qiaopi (comprising a letter and a remittance certificate that served as a bond between Chinese emigrants and their families back home) documents were exhibited to trace the footsteps of ancestors and feel the homesickness of the older generation of Chinese in the Philippines.
It is expected that this event will help strengthen the traditional friendship between China and the Philippines, enhance people-to-people understanding and bonds, and establish more favorable public opinions toward each other. (Bo)
