As of Friday, the 19th Asian Games have seen a total of 15 world records, 28 Asian records, and 150 Asian Games records broken, said Zhu Qinan, spokesperson for the Hangzhou Asian Games Sports Operations Center on Saturday.
Athletes from 27 countries and regions have won 432 gold medals, with representatives from 36 countries and regions gracing the award podium.
The 19th Asian Games featured a total of 40 major events, 61 sub-events, and 481 minor events, including 31 Olympic and 9 non-Olympic events. The competition involved 11,830 athletes and 5,711 team officials from 45 Asian countries and regions, making it the edition with the highest number of events and participants in history.
It is also considered the most complex Asian Games in terms of organizational challenges, and it could be said to be one of the most complex comprehensive sporting events in the world, the spokesperson said.
