On the morning of October 8, the launch ceremony of Shanghai-Kunming Lancang-Mekong international freight service was held at Wangjiaying West Station in Kunming. The Shanghai-Kunming Lancang-Mekong international freight service was established based on the China-Laos Railway and the Shanghai-Kunming Railway. It has realized two-way operation among Shanghai, Kunming, and Vientiane in Laos. 

The first Shanghai-Kunming Lancang-Mekong international freight service was operated in a two-way manner. The train in Shanghai departed from Shanghai, passed through the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and the China-Laos Railway, and finally reached Vientiane South Station in Laos, which mainly carried goods such as electrical appliances, freezers, blankets, chains, and plastic products. The train in Laos departed from Vientiane South Station, passed through the China-Laos Railway and the Shanghai-Kunming Railway, and finally reached Shanghai, which mainly carried goods such as rubber, cassava, and tropical fruits.
