Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport started operation as scheduled on October 16. On the first day of operation, the new airport, located about 40 kilometers away from Angkor Wat, welcomed 17 commercial flights.

As a landmark project jointly conducted by China and Cambodia for the Belt and Road Initiative, the airport is the first international airport implemented overseas through investment, construction, and operation by a Chinese-funded enterprise. The airport"s annual passenger throughput is seven million people during initial operation and will increase to 10 million people by 2030. (Bo)
