The first National Student (Youth) Sports Games will kick off in Nanning, Guangxi on Nov 5. The games' mountain biking event will be held in Hechi's Nandan county on Oct 28. The race will last for half a day, with 14 registered teams and 75 athletes participating from across the country.
"The track preparation work is 90 percent complete. We are currently making the final touches, including enhancing safety measures and setting up water supply points and medical stations," said Zheng Chunjin, the person in charge of preparations for the event.
The track has been designed and constructed according to the latest regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Chinese Cycling Association. It spans approximately 5 kilometers and consists mainly of paved roads in the Baping Wetland Forest Health Tourism Square and mountainous terrain in the rear mountain area of the scenic spot.
Featuring technical challenges such as steep downhill sections, wall turns, wooden bridges, jumps, undulating sections, and rocky roads, the track provides participants with ample opportunities to showcase their abilities.
Since the preparations for the games started, Nandan has received help from 326 young volunteers. The county held a volunteer service training class in September, providing volunteers with essential knowledge about volunteer service, etiquette, and emergency safety.
