On Oct 30, a group of media representatives from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan visited the Donglan Folk Bronze Drum Collection Hall in Hechi, where the diverse and beautiful bronze drums in the museum attracted a lot of attention.
As a part of the 19th Guangxi-Taiwan Economic, Trade, and Cultural Cooperation Forum, the event invited 22 representatives from nine media outlets to conduct visits and interviews in Bama Yao autonomous county, Donglan county, and Nandan county. The aim of this was to bring focus to Hechi’s achievements in emerging industries and cultural tourism.
Donglan county, the core area of the national-level Bronze Drum Culture (Hechi) Ecological Protection Zone, boasts a collection of 612 bronze drums. This accounts for one-fourth of the world's preserved bronze drums, which is why it is known as the "hometown of bronze drums."
The Donglan Folk Bronze Drum Collection Hall exhibits over 150 collections, spreading knowledge about the rich heritage of the local bronze drum culture. Chen Zhenyang, the hall’s curator, introduced the origin, development, and symbolism of Donglan bronze drums to the media representatives.
