The world's first large-scale internet-themed science and technology museum opens in Wuzhen, east China’s Zhejiang province on Tuesday.

Named the World Internet Science and Technology Museum, it introduces the key technologies, figures, and events during the development of the Internet, aiming to showcase the fundamental and irreplaceable role of the Internet in supporting global digital development and shaping human digital civilization.

More than 130 exhibits are displayed, including Lisa, the world’s first computer operable through a graphical user interface (GUI). China’s first router, first domain name server (DNS), and Huawei's NetEngine 5000E cluster router are also in the exhibition.

“The museum for the first time systematically sorted out the history of the world's Internet development, which is highly meaningful for academic research.” said a person in charge.

“The entire exhibition takes a global perspective to elaborate on the past, present, and future understanding of Internet development, which embodies the museum's concept of 'originated from China, belongs to the world',” the person added.

Designed by China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG), it covers an area of 18,000 square meters and a total construction area of 43,000 square meters.
