In recent days, the selenium-rich rice fields in Longkou village, Dahua town, Dahua Yao autonomous county, Hechi have experienced a bumper harvest.

"Our cooperative has planted 90 mu (6 hectares) of late-season rice this year, with a yield of over 900 kilograms per mu. Compared to last year, the yield has increased by around 100 kg per mu, resulting in a total output of over 40 metric tons. By applying mechanized production techniques in rice farming, we have improved planting efficiency and output," said Wei Naizhang, head of the Lyulong Rice Planting Professional Cooperative in Longkou village.

Located beside the Hongshui River, Longkou village not only boasts selenium-rich soil, but also benefits from abundant water sources and sufficient sunlight. The rice produced here is plump and of excellent quality.

In recent years, relying on its superior natural resources, the village has focused on developing a selenium-rich rice brand. By utilizing a "company + cooperative + farmers + base" approach, they have implemented selenium-rich rice production techniques and the requirements of pollution-free agricultural production throughout the cultivation process. This includes adopting high-quality cultivation methods, applying selenium-rich fertilizers, and establishing agricultural product testing and traceability systems. These efforts have gained recognition and popularity among a wide range of consumers.

The selenium-rich rice cultivation area in the village now exceeds 1,300 mu, with two seasons of rice planting each year and an annual output of approximately 1,200 tons.
