Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, launched a countryside tourism carnival on Dec 24, attracting visitors to enjoy local delicacies, musical shows, and intangible cultural heritage items.
In northwestern Guangxi, Huanjiang is the only Maonan autonomous county in China known for its pristine environment and rich cultural heritage.
The event aimed to integrate local advantageous resources in rural tourism, promote leisure agriculture, and enhance the recognition and influence of Maonan ethnic culture and unique food. It featured various activities, including 10 processions with 520 locals dressed in traditional Maonan ethnic costumes, providing a lively ethnic experience.
The event also included an exhibition and sales area showcasing products, from ethnic costumes to local specialties and cultural items, which was expected to boost tourism, promote local products, and improve the life quality of farmers.
In recent years, Huanjiang has insisted on rural tourism as a hand in helping rural vitalization. It has actively developed new tourism scenes, forms, and modes of rural culture and tourism integration, such as rural sightseeing, intangible cultural heritage experiences, outdoor camping, and homestay vacations.
