Yizhou district of Hechi has been pursuing excellence in rural cold chain logistics over the past few years, aiming to enhance the value of agricultural goods and improve farmers' income.
Yizhou has fostered three distinguished cold chain distribution enterprises with 137 mobile refrigerated vehicles that transport fresh produce and daily supplies between the city and rural areas.
The district has invested approximately 216 million yuan ($30.9 million) to establish a county-level cold chain logistics distribution center. One hundred twenty-six preservation warehouses and local cold storage facilities have been constructed across 16 towns. Furthermore, strategic private investments have led to the creation of 32 circulation facilities. One hundred twenty innovative mobile cold storage units have also been developed to fortify the agricultural sector further.
Establishing 30 cold storage units of 13 silk enterprises has safeguarded 65,000 tons of cocoons annually, representing a value surpassing 3 billion yuan. This signifies an impressive increase of over 18 percent compared to the pre-cold chain logistics implementation.
The fruit and vegetable cold chain logistics center has played a pivotal role in facilitating the sale of approximately 40,000 tons of diverse fruits, collectively holding a value of 180 million yuan. Furthermore, it provides services to over 200 livestock enterprises, expediting the daily circulation of approximately 30 tons of fresh meat and augmenting its value by more than 25 percent. Over 200,000 people have benefited from these initiatives.
