During the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Tan Tianjing, a NPC deputy and primary school teacher from Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, made a video call outside the Great Hall of the People to show her students Beijing.

Tan also brought her students' artwork, which expresses their aspirations for the future. Tan returned to her hometown after graduating as a teacher. She remained committed to her rural teaching career despite tempting offers from other schools and a shortage of teachers.

Tan encountered numerous left-behind children, inspiring her to make a difference in local education. Now, as a NPC deputy, she advocates for increased investment in infrastructure and management services for ethnic minority areas. Tan emphasized that she would start small to create a brighter future for the children.
