Over the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, Hechi city witnessed a significant increase in the number of tourists. The total number of visitors was 2.046 million, marking a 26.74 percent year-on-year increase.
This figure was also 164.31 percent higher than the same period in 2019, indicating a recovery in tourism. The city's tourism consumption reached 1.25 billion yuan ($172 million), which showed a growth of 29.27 percent year-on-year. On a comparable basis, this figure recovered to 154.45 percent of the 2019 level.
To meet the diverse tourism needs of visitors, major scenic spots in Hechi have planned and held a variety of colorful holiday-themed activities. Hechi Garden Expo Park introduced large-scale drone formation performances, waterfall fireworks music performances, and giant pink flame mountain night performances.
The Bailong Cave in the Huixian Mountain Scenic Area of Yizhou district has undergone renovation and upgrade. The cave now boasts a blend of traditional and modern technology and human landscapes and has reopened after a decade. The Baiku Yao village in Nandan county has launched singing festivals and exhibitions featuring intangible cultural heritage.
Geyasi Valley hosted an ecological bonfire evening party, creating a strong festive atmosphere, with high popularity in major scenic spots, attracting crowds of visitors, and some scenic spots reaching full capacity.
During the holiday period, Hechi's signature dishes, such as fruit jam barbecue, sour dishes, and rice noodles, attracted many visitors who came to experience the lively ambiance of off-the-beaten-path tourist destinations.
