Recently, "Wutang Bitter Melon" was successfully registered as a geographical indication certification trademark, becoming the first geographical indication certification trademark in Xingning District, Nanning. This provided robust regional trademark support for the development of modern agriculture in Xingning District and further enhanced the brand of specialty agricultural products in the district.
In recent years, Xingning District has capitalized on the unique qualities of Wutang Bitter Melon, focusing on production improvement. The district has upgraded the bitter melon industry by promoting excellent varieties such as Cuizhu, Cuilv, and Jinkachun, using techniques like concentrated grafting and seedling cultivation in greenhouses and cold-resistant cultivation under small arched shelters, and organizing events like the Wutang Bitter Melon Cultural Tourism Season and the Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Currently, the planting area of Wutang Bitter Melon remains stable at 13,000 mu (approximately 2,141 acres), with an annual output of 80 million jin (approximately 40,000 tons) and a comprehensive output value of near 200 million yuan. The products are supplied not only within Guangxi but also to Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, and other places.
