Recently, the “100MW/200MWh Lithium Iron Phosphate Electrochemical Energy Storage System” of the China Huaneng Xixiangtang Novel Energy Storage Station (hereinafter referred to as Xixiangtang Energy Storage Station) has been successfully connected to the grid and put into operation following a debugging phase. The operation of the first national “power bank” in Guangxi signifies a significant advancement of the green energy and novel energy storage industry in Nanning City.

It is reported that Xixiangtang Energy Storage Project of China Huaneng is a national-level pilot demonstration project for energy storage, and Xixiangtang Energy Storage Station is the first large-scale grid-side independent energy storage power station in Guangxi that uses series-connected energy storage technology. Upon completion, it will be applied to the peak and frequency regulation of the power grid, thereby enhancing grid operation security and augmenting new energy consumption capacity. According to calculations based on the energy storage station’s 300 charge-discharge cycles per year, it can annually increase the local grid’s consumption of clean energy by about 50 million kilowatt-hours and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 40,000 tons.
